Amazon Case Study

The Brief:

When Amazon approached us looking to do a “fun Scavenger Hunt with a group of people that don’t always get to work super closely with one another”, we knew the perfect activity. Heading to Milan for a conference, Amazon were looking for a team challenge that got everyone out and about in a new city whilst having fun and getting to know each other. There were 30 employees altogether and with a tight budget for the social element of the conference, the activity needed to be reasonably priced.

The Solution:

We knew instantly that our Self-Managed Milan City Explorer Challenge would fit this brief perfectly. With our technology adaptable to any iOS or Android device, the client's customised activities would be delivered via the attendee's own smartphone - all while providing a cost-effective rate. Our content writers travelled far and wide, researching and creating unique experiences in the major European cities and this Team Building Activity in Milan was no exception. Interactive and high-tech, this Scavenger Hunt-style activity would guide teams around central Milan, unlocking tasks via GPS hotspots. Challenges ranged from historic and Italian-themed trivia, getting to know the locals and vibrant photo and video challenges. The team at Amazon would be able to break the ice while immersing themselves in the culture and sights of this beautiful Italian city!

The group split themselves into teams and nominated a ‘team leader’ to download our app on their smartphones and enter their unique game code, which instantly loaded the activity on their devices. After taking selfies and entering a team name, a live map of Milan guided teams across the city to a range of challenge locations. Meanwhile, a dedicated event manager logged on to the game online to monitor the activity, score photos, videos and message teams, creating maximum engagement and interaction throughout the event.

A half-hour before the end of the game, the event manager froze the scoreboard and prompted teams to return to their finish location via the messaging function, while a countdown timer on the game screen put additional pressure on the teams to complete as many last-minute challenges as they could before time ran out. At the end of the activity, the client was immediately sent an online link containing all the team’s photos and videos to view in a presentation format as well as a link with the final scores to announce the winning team.
